[This takes some liberties with time but...it's a freehouse play...]

Vox eyed the innkeeper, curious about his fuzzy ears. It was not the first time she had seen a semihuman being, or even a feline variant, but she was still new enough to the worlds of magic to find them strange. She scraped up the last of her soup, made with fresh potatoes - she guessed he grew them in the back yard - and said, "Thank you, this was delicious. How much do I owe you?"
