Yeah, it was definitely the era of 2-part finailes (I think the divergent series also did it? might have to fact check that one though as I never watched or read it fully). Though, admittedly the final book is kind of divided in 2 parts in a way, so at least for the Hunger Games series, having the final book made into 2 movies actually works really well and does make sense.
