This is a massive leap in my music. I have never written anything that sounds like this before. I'm kind of at a loss for words.
The audio quality is easy to explain. I, finally, for the first time in my life, have a workflow set up that lets me write music in a way that works for me while also being able to use professional instrument plugins. (It involves running a Windows shareware program from the 90s under Wine and connecting through to Pipewire on Linux to an incomplete open-source plugin host that I was able to hack on enough to keep from crashing.)
But the rest?
I don't know where I learned to write drums like that. I don't think I've ever heard this chord progression before. I've never been able to flesh a piece out to have distinct sections with a dramatic arc and an actual ending (even if the ending is slightly cheap).
Listening to it, it's... hard to believe I wrote it.
