Also...could be my sleep-deprived brain right now, but am seriously considering taking apart some falling apart boots (the sole is coming off one of them pretty badly) and using the boot tongues to make a simple pattern so I can modify a pair of knee-high boots I bought a few months ago that don't fit around my calves. Because they also don't have tongues. The boot parts are just sewn together in the front with grommeted flaps sewn on for a mock tongue, but I think if I cut the seam open, add tongues, and move the grommet flaps (or just remove them and add new grommets), it will give the boots enough flexibility to actually fit since the laces will actually have more give and adjustability...
And since they're knee-high and I won't be wearing them for MANY months, I have plenty of time to procrastinate on the actual (probably minimal) sewing. Lol
