Not all dragons breathe fire. Admittedly, we probably all tend to think of Western dragons first, and by stereotype, they are generally very large, scaled or leathery skinned beasts who fly and breathe fire, whereas Chinese/Eastern dragons generally don't have wings or, despite what Mulan/Mushu would have you believe, breathe fire.
I'm, personally, a fan of Anne McCaffrey's dragons (and fire lizards), which only breathe fire when they've consumed a particular type of rock which reacts with acid in a smaller special stomach-like organ. And also of the How to Train Your Dragon series because they really dive into the idea of other types of dragons beyond what we all think of.
