One year for Chanukah, I used an old recipe (from my grandmother I think) for apple latkes and I did not check to see if I had any eggs that year, so instead of eggs, I used a mashed banana in the recipe.

They were good.

I don't celebrate Chanukah, but my grandmother was Jewish. She wasn't in my life for too long, though, she passed away when I was like three or four? Apparently she was my best friend though. She visited us every winter and stayed for months and months.

I was there when she was dying, I don't remember it well, though.. My mom said that when my grandmother was dying, she was telling the family that she felt I was her daughter and was telling everyone, "take care of my baby".

I wish I could say I miss her, but I can just barely remember her...
