Well, yeah. I don't know of ANY prof that grades on a bell curve where the average grade is forced to a C and every A given out means a corresponding F has to be given out. Usually the curve is set by defining 100% to be the score that the best student earned and everything's just scaled based on that. And if you STILL fail in the face of such a curve, then that usually means you didn't try hard enough.
Of course every once in a while you'll get a curvewrecker of a student come in that gets every possible point...
But still, if you're actually learning the material then a 70% should be achievable for anyone that's actually suited to be taking the class at all. Of course some teachers aren't very good at teaching, so the student has to be enough of a self-starter to seek out help when things aren't working...
