Alternately the one that died in a house fire would avoid the kitchen like crazy and turn off the heat in winter.
It really depends, I suppose, on how they felt about water after that. Perhaps their death wasn't as traumatic for them, or they've had time to work through it, so they're starting to get okay with it. On the other hand, maybe they really hate it, but realize they have to deal with it on occasion.
