Do you use plastic or aluminum scales for knitting?

I use aluminum. I have seen people use plastic, but the aluminum just has a more authentic dragon appearance in my opinion. I have seen plastic ones used in other projects though.
And I did have a friend ask if I could do a purse with the plastic glow in the dark scales once. I never did make it though since the scales cost more than I could afford at the time plus, based on her previous reluctance to pay a reasonable price for a blanket, I figured she wouldn't want to pay for it.
