Weaver of Webs
“You can end me,” Marie said, looking down at the faces and then back up into the mechanical woman's eyes. This was also the first patient whose name she didn't know, or relative medical backstory for that matter. “But keep in mind you asked for a doctor, a surgeon, not a mechanic. If you end me, you will be ending the life of the best surgeon in the galaxy, not to mention the neighboring galaxies. If it is indeed a doctor and not a mechanic that you are in need of, you will be ruining your own chances of aid. My own natural death does not frighten me. What does is ceasing to exist without being able to say that I did something.”

Yes, the initial shock had worn off, and now she was all business, ready to either help or be destroyed. Her claims, regardless of how grand they might have been, were anything but hyperbolic. She spoke the truth, so far as her reputationw was concerned. As she spoke, she put in the pass code to the operating room and stepped in, the energy efficient lights clicking to life. Of course, the air of confidence was just that—an air. The doctor was frightened, yes. She did not want to end up like the others, but her chances of survival were slim to none simply begging for her life. She needed to clear her mind in order to do what she'd meant to do.

“Considering it was a medic you asked for and not a mechanic, and if your claims of being an organism rather than machine are true, then yes, you would be an anomaly,” she paused her speech briefly to get some of the equipment ready. Her hands moved deftly, as ones who had done this a thousand times before despite her youth. “Ideally, yes. Though I've never seen anyone or anything even resembling you, so I'm not sure if it will work.” She shook her head at the woman's protests, “I will cut you open soon enough, but going in blind is a rather foolish endeavor, yes? I will see myself a failure if you die on my table.” Marie stopped her preparations to gaze at the woman before her, her brows furrowed with concern.

“From what I gather, a severe case of amnesia. As to whether you can bleed or not...well, we'll just have to find that out, and we will. If possible, we will find out exactly what you are. Before we begin, I am going to have to ask you if you can remember anything. Parents? Lovers? Friends? If so, what species were they? Were you always on Trars 5T49?”
