well, a few things here:

1- there's always more in the book than the movie, and it's difficult to craft a movie as well as the book, so you could argue the book is better.

2- i like everything i watch AND read.

so: i liked the book. the movie was.... weirdly done, but that's David Lynch for you. there were a few good things about the movie (and one definitely not good - it wasn't even in the book, so....) - but one of the good things was it served as a primer for the world of Dune, the Navigators, the feud between the two families.... and how to pronounce things like Harkonnen (but then the miniseries went and said it differently... LOL)

if someone wants to read the book, but they know nothing about it, i'll recommend the Lynch movie as a primer, and also for a cast of characters in the book as well.

so.... the book is better overall, but there are good things about the Lynch movie too.

does that make sense?
