It's a serious mental issue where she is stuck inside her head reliving her failures and has visions of what shes been trying to protect, save, and treasure disappearing.
The next part of this features her destroying herself while surrounded by herself.
It starts all nice and innocent but still. . .
The first death is in episode 3.
The first 2 movies are essentially the series (12 episodes) with some more tidbits added, but it also misses some parts. I highly suggest watching all of them in order, series then through all the movies to the third one.
Though without saying it is first and foremost a magical girl anime so there is some cutesy parts.
But it also features some intense surreal stuff
and magical guns
