I think they both are cool and have their own unique qualities and traits that make them special. In their own way. It's like comparing apple types. Some are better for eating, but others are better for pie.
But having said that, I do generally lean towards European dragons just because it is the style that is most commonly used and referenced in media so when someone says "dragon" I think of the European style first.
