Thanks for the replies! For the first thing I was just curious about it. For the second one, someone mentioned not remembering what the teacher said about it so I think I missed that in class ^^;;

For math I had a homework question that asked for a sketch of: r(x) = (3x² + 6)/(x²-2x-3)
When there's an imaginary root, do I just ignore those? (I ended up simplifying the equation to (3(x² + 2)) / ((x-3)(x+1)) for the sketch)
