Why does this equation: F_e = (k|q₁||q₂|)/r²
Have absolute values around q₁ and q₂? Wouldn't it be easier to have if something turns out negative they attract and if something turns out positive they repel? Or is that actually more of a hassle than it is useful?

Why does that equation use "r" for distance?
