Rune didn't sleep anymore that night. Once he'd gotten out of the shower, only because the water went cold, he'd dressed for the day, covered the worst of his visible bruises, grabbed his backpack, and snuck out of the house early. Sure it was only five in the morning, but he had nothing better to do, and it was safer out of his house than in it.

He'd gone wandering, heading for a little coffee shop that was open all night where the employees knew him by name, and had his order memorized. Going in and sitting down, he pulled out his laptop and smiled up at the woman who brought him his large coffee with two sugar and a shot of french vanilla. He handed her his money, and she headed back behind the counter, letting Rune relax with his coffee in silence.

When 8:30 rolled around, he got up, packing his stuff away, and got another coffee to go, heading off to the school, making it several minutes before the bell.
