The problem with putting the contests in those area's they get buried by other non-contest/giveaway/raffle threads and no one gets to see them, so the only way of getting it noticed is by telling others its there.

having a forum or sub-forum for it would be better so they don't get buried by threads. and this way all the contest-giveaway-raffles will be all in one spot and easier to search for ones that interest you.
