I prefer to deal with credit unions vs banks, they are a lot more forgiving if you screw things up on your end, but on the flip side dont have the backing/accessibility like banks.
When serg was with bank of america they required 200 dollars stay in his account at all times or he would get fees out the yinyang, but he got the account as a kid to cash his checks from his tribe which never amounted to more then 180 tops.
At my credit union, it costs 5 to open a savings, 25 for a checkings and savings, and you need 5 to stay in your savings at all times. this also gives me discounts to some stores and gives me free efiling.
How we raised his credit score? we got a joint account at my credit union, put about 2 months of work checks in, then withdrew a lifeline loan of $250. we started doing this right before we married in 2012, and as of 2015 we learned that was his score. we made 40 dollar payments for a few months, then just payed the loan off and pulled out another one.
thus we raised it with no actual credit card just yet XD
