Toshiba has a really good reputation and good prices. ASUS is pretty solid too. I don't like HP because they're overpriced for what you get and come preloaded with too much junk. Sony made really good hardware, but they were expensive, and got out of the laptop business anyway.

I would actually recommend getting a touchscreen though. Windows 10 is SO much nicer when you have one.
