He fumbles around with a box near it that holds some tools for the fireplace near the rack holding the poker and tongs. Pulling out of the box some matches, a piece of coal and paper he wraps the paper around the coal, tucking it under the logs and then using the matches to light the edge of the paper. Backing away a bit he closes the grate and sits there shivering as he waits for the fire to start roaring.
