I live in a college town, there are worse and much stupider things.
and thankfully I live in the county part, out where no one is at that is around my age. Mostly Grandparents that lie to work on cars, shoot or fish. But not country life, I'm not that far out, not into the farms.

That's the biggest thing to happen in my town besides the current news
(a couple starved their 3 month infant to death and got off on 10k bail)

It's a heavily liberal town, personally.
