I'm glad they brought back old plot devices and twists. Rey's looking up to Han Solo as a mentor was a wonderful homage to Luke's respect for Obi Wan Kenobi. You also have to remember that the original trilogy came out over 30 years ago. Not to mention the reversal of certain things. Kylo's struggling with the Light side of the Force calling to him is a wonderful throwback to Luke's own struggle with the Dark side. And like how Luke was able to throw it off, so was Kylo. I'm glad we finally have an 'evil' character who had his chance to be redeemed and did not take it.

Also, the usage of the Force was done much better. It's taken much more seriously when people aren't leaping around and flying everywhere. I would say that 7 has a definite chance of being the best out of all seven movies so far.
