A bit of ranting that has spoilers in it. Read at your own discretion. Note, if its just not someone's cup of tea the show, that's fine, but bringing up points that are actually explained in the first episode and then saying it doesn't make sense why something is the way it is really ticks me off. Or just judging it harshly because part of the first episode, not even the rest of the show, is similar to another one but is different. (for those wondering people automatically disliked the show because its 'a rip off' of Host Club which is actually not an accurate description at all because that's maybe only three minutes of the show and the rest doesn't count because of how things happened).

I was reading some reviews of the anime and the low rating ones kind of ticked me off because there are things they don't realize about the show. Most of them kept saying how it's ripping off of Host Club. Granted yes she starts off being mistaken as a guy, but even before that happens she stated she was a girl! That's not a Host Club rip off because Haruhi never stated she was a girl before or after, she just let them figure that out on their own, where as Hotaru clearly stated she wasn't a guy and everyone ignores her. Its only similar in the fact that they were both mistaken for guys, and even then the story doesn't even follow the a similar trend after that either to Host Club. Secondly people were complaining about the 'overly powerful' things she does for no reason, when that's also for the most part explained in the first episode, she's REALLY into sports and I think they also mentioned martial arts. And guess what? Someone who's done martial arts for years and are masters of it (which can be seen by how she moves) can break concert. Then there were people saying the show is too slow paced but compared to most animes that I've seen that are action orientated its almost the same pace, and since its also a 'slice of life' anime they cannot make it as fast paced as an action one or else the slice of life portion will be too fast. Not to mention there are plenty of action animes that are slower paced than this one. Take Angel Heart for instance, that one is much slower but has a huge story to it that cannot be explained in an extremely fast paced anime. If anything Machinegun is actually faster than Angel Heart but the story also doesn't have as much depth as Angel Heart, thus no need to be slow. And the part where she gets that one look in her eyes can be seen as a bit of insanity in her personality, making her appear slightly more human in the fact that she's not unable to go crazy when someone makes her snap where traditionally unless its a horror thing, when girls snap they go blank. In her case she's out for blood, and then after being defeated in that state she goes blank. Which in turn gives her character even more depth then before. She's also one of those character types that's better off doing the games since 1. she enjoys them and 2. there is a chance of her going syco and start killing people, in this case criminals since she has a really strong sense of justice.

Why oh why do people not see these things when watching shows? There's more to it than what you see in the freakin first episode you damn ninnies!
