Gamestop was dirty like that. We would hire like 4 or 5 seasonals, only give them about 5 hours a week, and then just not schedule them. So instead of having one or two reliable seasonals who got hours and time to gain experience and know things (all we needed), we had a bunch of flakes who had no reason to come to a job that didn't pay anything and and when they did they didn't know shit. It's stupid dirty practices like that that turn me inside out, but I just left a place a few months ago that fired someone because we had 'too many women' and they wanted more guys. So yeah, someone got fired for being a woman. Legality aside, some of your small businesses are even worse than a corporate setting.
