The Bird-people believed in a Great Red Raven, the creator of the Shadow-swamp. It was said in tales long ago that the Raven fought off the Sun-wolf, and established the fertile ground for all birds. In its honor, the Birds hunt down and sacrifice canine creatures to feed the spirit of the Raven. The Great Raven is known as Espy.
