It's the same thing I had mentioned to you before -- if you like the art style of having the mostly-animal-like character designs, then having those same characters being presented as humans who happen to have some very faint features (mostly limited to ears and tails) is a major change in artistic direction.
Imagine playing an Animal Crossing game where Tom Nook looked the way he does when you interact with him, but every time you see a picture of him in the world (even if you take the picture yourself) the result was a middle-aged human man with a black bandanna and a tail (EDIT: but everyone thinks it looks just like him). It'd be funny as a gag (it works for Hatoful Boyfriend), and it's entirely possible that the game would otherwise be good, but that kind of thing makes it hard to take the character designs seriously.
