Hangouts On Air is basically the "easy" frontend for YouTube streaming.
The tools that can stream to Picarto can also target YouTube streaming, so Hangouts On Air is optional, but if you DON'T already have a livestreaming setup working, I find it to be WAY easier than most to set up. Procaster is the only one I've seen that's even close to being as easy, and it's a system hog, especially on Mac.
