A lone interstellar traveler shuffles towards the crumbling ruins, the wind moaning eerily through cracks and over cavities in the alabaster walls. From the layer of brown dust settled thickly over every once-exposed surface, it is obvious that, whatever creatures may have once inhabited the sanctuary, they are long gone, their very bones disintegrated into the ubiquitous powder.
Littered on the ground some distance away are glass shards. Non-biodegradable, the traveler thinks. Nearby, tucked away in an alcove, is a stack of plastic sheets layered between decomposing leaves of some sort of organic material. The markings on the white leaves are illegible, faded in some places and completely moth-eaten in others, but seem to at one time have constituted charts and diagrams. Knotted circuitry and metal plates lay scattered throughout the niche, apparently part of some complex machinery in bygone times.
Further into the dilapidated building, the traveler cautiously inches past rotten pallets, some coated thicker than others with the dust, finally reaching a collapsed doorway, blocked off by barbed wire and a jumble of wooden planks.
Of particular interest is a decrepit sign, battered and orange with rust, hanging across the opening from two lengths of equally oxidized chain. Its contents seem hastily painted, drops of red splattered across the metal background, and is comprised of only two words.
