Well, you can't write games in HTML. You can display stuff on the screen (e.g. websites) with HTML. It's up to Javascript to be able to make that display do stuff.

Oh geez. If I were to write a game like that, it would at the VERY least include larger chunks! That should have been at most two clicks there, and MAYBE one. I'm also not likely to have such things be non-interactive -- I would at least give you a "fight/special/item/run" option when it's your turn!
