If you're referring to what Uma and I were talking about, Second Life is a 3D avatar world. It's hosted in SecondLifeViewer (or another client if you can't run SLV), and you get to walk around, interacting with other users and your environment. It's pretty nifty. If Uma were on here, she'd be able to give a better explanation of what SL is. I like it, the avs are lovely, and fully customizable (weight, height, clothing, hair, all of it!). My only qualm is that you have to spend money to purchase site currency. You can't earn it from posting (like here on Tris, or other av sites), or at least that's my understanding.
 World's worst for poofing during a conversation. Sorry.
