I can only agree with you Obbiesan, I love how you can decide the layering of the items for yourself, it just makes avatar building a lot more fun, though, I can see how a person that's new to making avatars might find it a bit overwhelming the first few times ^^;.
I think Gaia's actually the only avatar site that doesn't let you actually keep the commons hair, needles to say, I refuse to use the Salon on Gaia, the saddest part is that it will never become a functional shop since Gaia would rather the Cash Shop wigs have as little competition as possible... Ugh, that site is just annoying with a bunch of stuff.
The oddest thing is that when I mentioned other avatars sites some people actually said that other sites just didn't compare (they meant that negatively), the only thing I wonder is what they mean by that? Can't compare in the sense that they lack annoying ads that might have trojans/viruses? can't compete in the sense that there's not rampant hyperinflation around? Can't compete in the sense that the avatars don't need to wear leg mods just to look good?
I understand that Gaia's avatars being able to move their arms, crouch and turn around is lovely, as well the fact that Gaia has some spectacular items and a whole lot more items compared to most other sites (especially newly made ones) and a lot more people so the forums are never really dead, but even so, I think a lot of avatar sites are miles above Gaia in quality, especially the quality of their commons and event items in the sense that other sites make commons and event items that are actually desirable unlike Gaia that has very bland and undesirable commons (and the updates have been getting smaller), at least as far as I'm concerned.
Gaia had it's games going for it as well but, when considering the current inflation the games Gaia has are quite frankly not really worth playing...
