I have received the more negative end of the college deal. There is a positive end - listen to Espy for that.

Things I have learned:

1) If you still can be claimed as a dependent, you are less likely to be listened to.
2) Faculty can take up to a month to answer an urgent email, are quick to twist facts to cover their rears, and in verbal conversation will often try to intimidate or bully you into acquiescence. As such, get everything they say recorded, go straight to their office rather than email, and try to make friends with the more (honest/helpful) faculty.
3) For personal needs, consider college help one step above public school help - alias, if you need help, and can afford it, get it from a private practitioner.
4) If your honesty is a risk to them (alias, you say you've been having thoughts of suicide or self-harming) their reaction will be overblown and ultimately add to the stress (Alias, forcing you to be detained in the suicide wing for saying you were cutting yourself...before suspending you for a year).
