Not even remotely. I mean, yeah, maybe later on you're going to need a coder for some robotic part, but computer science and mechanical engineering have very little overlap.
Well, it had been missing a lock for a while. It was still "locked" to people who didn't know how to wiggle their finger into where the lock would have been and lift a lever, but I guess they decided to fix that. You're not supposed to be down there, most because it's dangerous but also because they don't want students messing around with steam pipes. And there's asbestos, too.
Oh, they totally know we used to be able to get down there. I'm not sure if they /still/ think that. They probably do, but it's not really worth their time to go scouring the tunnels. Campus security probably don't want to get their uniforms dirty and breath in asbestos anyways.
Groups ahve definitely been caught in there. KGB was leading an underground tour once with like...30 freshmen and they got caught. The freshmen were fine, but KGB got community service.
