Just to note, Tarja is not trying to cook anyone friendly, she's "aiming" at the hellhounds and Sin's general area. I'm more hoping to burn away an umbilical cord or two rather than do serious flesh damage. Tarja has walled herself off from the darkness for now, but can't see a blasted thing anyway because it's still dark up against her shield, so she can probably hit party members too, if they happen to get into the same space as her psychic microwave.
