My guy went deaf when we was around 8-9 (I had my little dog Monty for 13 years so I can talk about him a lot ;)) and he would get startled now and then but he got used to things pretty fast, and I adapted to taking his deafness into account (little things like tapping the end of his tail to get his attention, or adding hand signals to my speech so he learned them. He was a people watcher by nature, and I swear, he learned how to read lips...). I'm sure your cat will be just fine. :)

Sounds to me like a very smart dog.
Wow.
And so far he's doing good.
I just hope his laziness goes away eventually.
All he does is eat, sleep, and use the bathroom it seems.

It hurt me pretty bad emotionally.
I kept thinking, "Why my baby? Why him?"
But long ago when he was littler I had decided that if anything happed to one of his limbs I'd have it amputated.
So almost as soon as the vet said that it was an option I would of grabbed it.
But there was that slight chance that his leg could of been saved so I waited to see what the vet said.
