Uh... what? No, no, no, the avatar editor is COMPATIBLE with all of the major browsers. It even works on an iPad, if I recall correctly. The timeout issue isn't a question of code compatibility.

If you're having problems with layers saving, yes, try a different browser, but also try editing your avatar at a different time of day. It's really about speed more than anything else.
