Let me start out by saying that if a law is passed (no matter the content) it must be abided by until such time as it is overturned or is declared unconstitutional. They technically exploited a loophole and the fact that a vote was unable to be called for successfully due to the loud group of individuals on top of the fillibuster even after such time as it had been ended.

That being said, the Texas Lieutenant Governor reversed his initial decision and declared the bill dead around 2:30 am. Therefore, such a petition, while valiant, has no point other than to "beat a dead horse" so to speak.
