He had to make the comment that Mizuki was the right teacher for this. Though he bit his tongue at Mizuki talking about the mess this place was in. Hell did he think before he spoke? They were working with what they had. They weren't all fighters, these were the ones that retreated or escaped the slaughter that Mizuki's own orders carried out.

"Yeah well you'll have to pardon things not being up to your standards." He said having a bit of venom behind the words. Heck most were lucky they weren't starving let alone that anything was getting done. Really most of the work that he slaved over each day he never accepted payment for.
