I think elves may be more effective since I can't see humans being able to become master assassins as easily as a typical elf can, what with their enhanced senses, overall skillset, and whatnot. :)
If we're going with elves then, I'd probably be a wood elf since I feel they're definitely more suited for melee-based attacks.

Fantasy dimension sounds good to me.

Well, in that case, we both can go out of our comfort zone and write something we're not used to? :P
