Djinn frowned, his eyebrows coming together. "Mm, I don't know. You really should be asking Matt about that, not me. I don't like to bring her over here 'cuz it's a lot easier for her to get attacked."

"I could not..." Avia spoke up. "I could not burden your friend like that. I do not require a 'break,' as you put it. I am fine." She averted her gaze. "It is nice to see you again, Brandon, but you need not worry about me."
"Ooh, baby's so formal; that's cute as hell."
"I would much rather us both disappear than for Yamiko to gain control. I will not have her enslaving my people again, and I will not let her enslave me this way. Our souls with clash until we both break, as it should be. We are both weary and will not last much longer."

"Aviaaa!" Aqua threw back the heavy curtain in the doorway and shoved past everyone to get to her sister.
"Avia, don't talk like that! I just had a vision, okay? It's bad! Really bad." She whipped around to look at Brandon. "I saw someone kill you, Brandon. Like, for good. They captured Azuronni and used his power to do some majorly bad shit!" she cried, shaking his shoulders. "You've got to stop it."
Aqua whirled back around to a very startled-looking Avia. "And you! Don't even get me started! You have to become one with Yamiko."
"No." Avia grimaced.
"No, for real. You actually have to."
"I refuse."
"No, I mean like, seriously! You don't have a choice!"
"I politely decline."
Aqua copied her scowl. "Avia, you and Yamiko together have the potential to be unfathomably powerful. Your help is Brandon's only chance."
Avia paused, looking away. "Why is that my issue...?"

"Wow, bitch," Djinn mumbled, his tone mildly sing-song.

Aqua's face turned red. She raised her hand and struck Avia.
"I thought you cared about him!" She screeched. "I thought you cared about all of us! We're still your people, Avia, the ones you swore to protect! And Yamiko, you are still our High Priestess, and we still care for you dearly! We're still the same people you risked your life and your sanity for! I don't give a single shit about your stupid spiteful quarrel, that's in the past now; this is the imminent future if you let yourselves cancel each other out! Now you better get your shit together right now, I will punch you in your fucking face!"
Djinn breathed in sharply. "It's official, I'm in love. Can we get married? Let's get married."
"Call your medium friend; we're ending this today." Aqua gave her sister one last sharp look, then turned on her heel and sashayed away, flipping her hair over her shoulder where it tumbled down looking like white water rapids.
"Sure thang, mama. Ooh, girl! I ain't never seen a bitch so fierce!"

Ignis entered the room, his eyes sparking shades of yellow and orange.
"We will go to the human world. There is no need to put your friend in more danger than she already would be." he noted, coming over to Avia/Yamiko and plucking up her magical ties, forcing her to her feet. "I hate to treat you this way, Sister, but I don't want to risk challenging Araxie's visions." He sure didn't sound sorry.
"What do you intend to do?" Yamiko demanded.
"If you won't rejoin peacefully, we may have to force you." Ignis threatened.
"What? Keahi!"
"Open the portal." He told Djinn, who withdrew the same large crystals from before, announced something in the same foreign language, and clashed them together. The purple sparks ignited a person-sized fire on the floor.

As soon as everyone was through, the portal closed behind them and they stood in the foyer of Djinn's house.
"Matt, baby! I've got a favour to ask." Djinn called out.
"Did you bring my coffee?"
"I've been a little preoccupied!"
"Then no!"
"Come on, babe, don't be like that!"
Matt came out of her room and stared at the scene. "What the fuck did you get yourself into, Djinn?"
"Hey, girl, this is Brandon's shit, not mine."
"What do you need?"
"Some medium stuff...?" Djinn tried to play innocent.
"Oh hell no! 'No' until the cows come home, I've gone a solid two weeks without getting possessed, and I don't intend on breaking my record now!" Matt raged, going back into her room and slamming the door.
Djinn sighed. "What a ho. I'll be right back." He strode across the living room and down the hall to Matt's room and went in, closing the door behind him. Silence fell.

Almost a minute later, the two emerged again, Matt's eyes glued to the floor and her cheeks bright red.
"I guess I could do whatever it is you need... but only for a little while, okay? This spiritual bullshit really wears me out. And you'll owe me big time."
"Whatever you want," Keahi nodded. "If this plan succeeds, we will be greatly indebted to you."
"Better be." Matt grumbled.
"I'll call Ghost, okay?" Djinn whispered to her. She nodded in response. He went back to his room, retrieved a small glass sphere with something glowing a bright white in the center, and smashed it on the floor. The air grew hot, and then a bolt of lightning struck the place where it fell. When it faded, there was a boy no older than seventeen with bold blue hair and silver eyes standing there, beads around his neck and wrists, and barely visible, flickering dragonfly wings extending from his back.
"Did you need something?" He asked. "Who are they?"
"Yeah, we've got a... thing. It's a problem, I think? We need you to do some shaman-y stuff so Matt can do some medium-y stuff and we can help these poor fuckers out. It's kind of important." Djinn explained.
Ghost arched an eyebrow. "Specific."
"So...?"
"Fine, whatever. It's not like I have anything better to do right now."
