We're all mad here.
I got *mostly* used to my aunt's cats. One was an ancient girl called Princess Anastasia that lived to some ridiculous age. She generally just walked around and didn't do much. My Uncle's cat, Shadow, was a little trickier. She would stare at me all the time. I was staying with them for part of the week for a while and I'd sit in this one spot on the couch and she'd sit across the room and stare at me. I tended to not interact with her much, except for giving her the odd scratch under her chin or hand on her back once and a while. Apparently, when I was back to being at home, she took to staring at the space on the couch where I should have been sitting.

I'm sure it didn't help that as I kid I knew two cats who were of the "hide under the couch and fling claws at people" variety. Those are the cats I remember more than others.
