Lucid:
The ever amazing cap'n obvious
|
Well I had a great big post written up, but I lost it. Long story short, I'm not voting this year because either state I can register for (Washington or Utah) is absolutely set in their political alignment and have been for ages. Just my luck to have grown up in a fiercely liberal state and be going to college in a completely conservative one.
I believe that because the economy and jobs are the biggest issues right now, Mitt Romney is the best candidate for president right now. My favorite professor personally knew and worked with Romney and endorsed that he was a smart and hard-working man who could turn the country around. That's what we need right now. We need a businessman who can get the house and senate to actually work together and get things done.
Most importantly, my friend posted this on facebook today:
Quote:
I think the ballot should have no pictures, no names, and no parties. You should have to READ a candidate's stance and policies, and vote accordingly. Too many people voting for Obama because he's Obama, and too many people voting for Romney, because he's Romney. I feel like we are all a very uninformed voting base, voting for the leaders of our country as if it was American Idol.

which sums up my feelings perfectly. I feel like this would not only solve the issue of idiots voting, but also give the other parties a fighting chance.
