It really depends on who is GMing, some people are more strict about following the guidelines of what they have set, and others are willing to let you have your fun and sdo what you wish.

The other thing is that it is not just like, roll a d20 and if you get a high enough score you kill all of your teammates. It would most likely include an entire battle, and then it is you vs. 4 or 5 people of the same level fighting against you.
