I'd say that you're overthinking. Just stop and roll with it. They'll ask if they don't quite understand what you mean. . . Mostly in the form of "Uuuuuh what?" but then allow some time to gather your thoughts before trying to explain yourself, because usually when you're rushed you'll probably say something wrong that you didn't even mean to say.
