I don't know if my perception of Holmes is skewed (might be) but it seems to me like they're trying to make him younger and more hip. Might be the reason for all the pop-ups of new Sherlocks everywhere. I like the quirky habits but the character seems to be extra quirky these days.

(must read some of the stories so I can actually validly comment on his character. -.-)
