Mal: I've read the first Beka book and own the second but I haven't really gotten into them as much as the others.

Serra: The Tortal series by Tamora Pierce is a now 5 series long series. If that makes any sense. It's set in a land that's kind of like Europe. It is set in Medieval times. The first series is about a girl who masquerades as her brother so she can become a knight. The second is about a girl who has magic associated with animals. The third is about a girl who wants to become a knight and is the first to try since the girl in the first series. Then the fourth is about the girl in the first series daughter. And then the fifth series is about the ancestor of the first series' girl's husband. There's magic, immortal animals, and lots of awesome things! I love them so much!
