If his throat hadn't been parched, Hayate would have spat at the policeman's face. He groaned as the pull caused the metal to dig further into his burned hands, then shook his head violently in an attempt to get the long matted strands out of his face.

Snarling at Makoto, he dug his heels in: He'd show the Hunter he wasn't as soft as she thought.
