December 11th, Chicago. Sewer #17.

It had taken her some time, but Leila had managed to put everything in place - her chaotic emotions were now once again glazed over by ice, the coldness seeping further in and freezing them. There was no place for love, doubt or hate in her life - except the hate that would die only when the murderers of her family would curl and scream in agony at her feet.

She knew Amante had survived, there would be no doubt about it, with the antidote and the speed he was healing. The girl was now quite sure he was most likely one of the beast kind. Which one, she did not know, but now Leila knew she could not afford to underestimate the man. It didn't mean she couldn't kill him, it would just take more effort.

The rumors about his stable state had reached her ears a day later. And not long after, so did the talks about Amante's new girlfriend. Apparently, he was spending all the time with the white haired girl in wheelchair from few weeks before. Although Leila received the news coolly, her distaste for him grew a little deeper. The kiss had been awfully out of place, especially if he had a girl. Amante indeed was a player like she had pictured.

Other than that, Leila was somewhat pleased with the progress of her mission. She had handed various precious information to the employer, and her position was becoming stable again. Maybe by New Year's eve, all this ordeal would be over, and then, soon, so soon, it all would come to an end. This pleasing thought made her pace light as she patrolled down yet another sewer. Armed and careful of her surroundings, Leila felt calm and safe, in a strange way.
