The bad news that that he DID hear what the shopkeeper said. But there was good news- he didn't make any motion to confirm this. He just acted like he hadn't and gave her a subtle grin after licking some ice cream off of his mouth. When she sat down across from him, he shrugged, "I guess they just get really excited." He poked and prodded at his ice cream before taking another bite and chewing on a condensed cluster of peanut butter. He made a sound that said, to anyone, that he fucking loved that ice cream, and then he spoke, "If anything it gives them a distraction from all of the torment, you know?"
