Snape...his character is so flawed, but so deep...After the last book came out, I re-read some of the books to look at it more as the story of Snape instead of Harry...Sure Harry is the 'main character', but Snape is the most developed and the deepest character in the series...if not for Snape...there would be no Harry...
The reason I love him is because at first I HATED him...he's the 'evil' teacher who tortures Harry the entire time, you never believe he's trying to save Harry...
Then, in the third book, you find out that James Potter bullied him so you start to feel a little bit bad for him, but it still didn't make up for him taking it out on Harry...
But then in the last book you find out that it was all for the love of Lily that he did what he did. That James had stolen his one true love. And the fact that the last thing Snape said to Harry was (in the movie) "Look at me... you have your mother's eyes." (In the book) "Take it, Take it"...The last thing Snape saw were they eyes of the woman he had loved his entire life, his patronus was a doe to symbolize her. His hatred of Harry stemmed entirely from him hating himself for helping kill the one thing in life he ever truly loved, and every time he looked at Harry he only saw Lily's Eyes...
I LOVE character development...
